CAMDEN, N.J. – In a tightly-contested match, the William Paterson volleyball team (4-1, 0-1 NJAC) came up just short in its New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opener at Rutgers-Camden (3-4, 1-0 NJAC), 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-23), Sept. 10.
Senior opposite hitter
Nicole Spicer (Whiting, N.J./Manchester Twp.) led all players with 11 kills, adding a team-best 15 digs. Freshman setter
Kendall Caruso (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) posted 23 assists and six digs, while senior libero
Michelle Merida (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) collected 11 digs. The reigning New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Player of the Week, junior outside hitter
Erin Roach (Clark, N.J./Union County Vo-Tech) added nine kills, seven digs and two service aces.
Senior Olivia Rowland, senior Kristin Bellamy and freshman Victoria Lake each had seven kills for the Scarlet Raptors. Senior Brooke Hassan dished 28 assists and sophomore Erin Thompson finished with 17 digs.
William Paterson will play in a tri-match at Mount Saint Vincent Saturday, Sept. 12, facing Arcadia at 12:00 p.m. and the host Dolphins at 2:00 p.m.
