Volleyball Sweeps Delaware Valley, Rosemont

Pioneers Led by Roach’s 33 Total Kills

DOYLESTOWN, PA. – The William Paterson volleyball team (14-12) rolled to a pair of 3-0 sweeps Oct. 24, defeating host Delaware Valley (1-17) as well as Rosemont (1-20).
 
The Pioneers started the day with a 25-14, 25-9, 25-12 win against the host Aggies. Junior outside hitter Erin Roach (Clark, N.J./Union County Vo-Tech) collected 12 kills, senior libero Michelle Merida (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) finished with 20 digs and four service aces, and freshman setter Kendall Caruso (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) added 30 assists. Freshman outside hitter Christine Griffith (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) posted 17 digs and senior opposite hitter Nicole Spicer (Whiting, N.J./Manchester Twp.) had nine kills and nine digs.
 
Freshman middle hitter Kayla Bracken led DelVal with eight kills, adding 11 digs, and junior setter Nicole Daigneault had 13 assists and 15 digs.
 
WP finished the day with a 25-7, 25-13, 25-14 win against Rosemont. Roach added eight digs to her match-best 21 kills, Caruso finished with 27 assists and three aces, and sophomore libero Julianna Ginefra (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) tallied nine digs.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Rollins posted 11 kills for Rosemont, freshman setter Sabrina Heggan dished 17 assists and sophomore middle blocker Leilani Carter collected 10 digs.
 
William Paterson will visit Rutgers-Newark Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7:00 p.m.
