WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (14-9, 11-5 NJAC) rolled past visiting Kean (13-10, 10-6 NJAC) for a 97-60 Senior Night victory Feb. 12, securing a top-four seed and a home contest for the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament in the process.
Senior guard
Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) collected 27 points, 10 rebounds and five steals, and senior guard
Kristine Jackiewicz (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) tied her career high with 21 tallies, adding eight rebounds. Senior forward
Dana Jeter (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) notched her eighth double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 boards, and the fourth WP senior, forward
Brittany Ennis (Lambertville, N.J./South Hunterdon Regional), had nine tallies and nine rebounds.
The result was never in doubt during the Pioneers' wire-to-wire win, as WP owned an early 11-point advantage (19-8, 15:28) and a 15-point lead by halftime (50-35). By the 15:09 mark of the second half, that margin jumped to 27 (68-41) as the Pioneers had their largest scoring output of the season while outrebounding the Cougars by a 61-37 count.
The third and fourth seeds will host first-round NJAC Tournament games Saturday, Feb. 22. The top two seeds will receive first-round byes and host semifinal contests Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Junior guard AnnaRose Pierre led Kean with 12 points, and sophomore guard/forward Jazmine Davis chipped in 10 tallies. Freshman guard/forward Essence Casey had seven points and a team-best seven rebounds from off the bench.
William Paterson will host Rutgers-Camden Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1:00 p.m.
