DiMarsico Scores Pair of Touchdowns for Pioneers

EWING, N.J. – Junior wide receiver Anthony DiMarsico (Stony Point, N.Y./Suffern) scored a pair of offensive touchdowns and sophomore defensive back Jason Montalvo (Hoboken, N.J./Hoboken) returned an interception 17 yards for a score as the William Paterson football team (3-4, 1-3 NJAC) defeated host The College of New Jersey (1-6, 0-4 NJAC), 21-0, Oct. 25.

DiMarsico broke open the scoring with 2:20 to play in the first half, ripping off a 39-yard touchdown run. Senior Robert Sinegra (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls) made it a 7-0 score with his extra point.

The two teams continued to trade punts until midway through the fourth quarter when freshman quarterback Austin Fellows (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) connected with DiMarsico for a 15-yard touchdown and a 14-0 lead.

After a Fellows interception deep in TCNJ territory, Montalvo got the ball back two plays later with a pick-six, making it a 21-0 margin with 3:11 to play.

Fellows finished 10-for-20 for 142 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Junior running back Matt Deiana (Somers, N.Y./Somers) carried 20 times for 56 yards, and DiMarsico caught five passes for 62 yards and a score.

Senior linebacker Ben Allen (Ventnor, N.J./Atlantic City) posted seven stops (four solo, 1.0 TFL), and freshman linebacker Jonathan Jackson (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) had five tackles. The Pioneer defense posted a shutout for the first time since a 35-0 triumph against Western Connecticut on Oct. 2, 2010.
