Marcus Hackett (Montclair, N.J./Immaculate Conception) kept the pressure on the Gothic Knights all afternoon, accounting for nine of the Pioneers' 19 shots. Junior
Besmir Dzila (Prospect Park, N.J./Dr. Ibrahim Temo) added four shots for WP. The Pioneers outshot the Gothic Knights 8-6 during a scoreless first half.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Santiago Mesa (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) earned his first shutout of the season for WP with three saves. Kevin Fuentes made nine saves for NJCU in the losing effort.
William Paterson faces Montclair State in the Pioneers' home opener Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Pioneer Soccer Park at 7:00 p.m.
