EWING, N.J. – Senior linebacker Clifton Glaze (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) made a game-high 14 tackles and junior wide receiver Mick Paye (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) caught a pair of touchdown passes but William Paterson (3-5, 1-5 NJAC) could not get past The College of New Jersey (3-5, 2-4 NJAC), 35-24, Oct. 26 at Lions' Stadium.

Junior quarterback Ryan Gresik (Newton, N.J./Newton) was 28-for-52 for 353 yards and three touchdowns, and sophomore running back Isaac Jlaka (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) rushed 10 times for 36 yards.  Paye hauled in nine passes for 151 and the two scores, and senior tight end Joseph Cordato (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) posted seven receptions for 69 yards.

Glaze added an interception to his 14 stops (six solo), while senior bandit German Decena (Union City, N.J./Emerson) finished with 13 tackles (nine solo).  Senior cornerback Adam Curry (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) forced a fumble and matched junior defensive tackle Webb Geer's (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) nine stops.

The Lions found the end zone on the first drive of the game with a Justin Doniloski 11-yard run (7-0, 12:06), and after the two teams exchanged interceptions late in the first quarter and WP saw a field-goal attempt get blocked to start the second, Victor Scalici's 13-yard touchdown carry handed TCNJ a 14-0 edge with 12:43 on the clock.

WP put together an 11-play, 91-yard drive to get on the scoreboard late in the first half, capped by an eight-yard completion from Gresik to Paye (14-7, 1:09), but TCNJ's Matt Chierici returned the ensuing kickoff 91 yards to again give the Lions a two-touchdown lead at 21-7 with 56 seconds remaining prior to halftime.

Gresik went to work, completing four of his five attempts, including the last for 19 yards to junior Julian Frazier (Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) for a score.   Sophomore Robert Sinegra (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls) tacked on the extra point for a 21-14 margin with 0:16 on the clock.

WP punted and TCNJ missed a 39-yard field goal to open the second half, but Sinegra's 19-yard kick pulled the Pioneers to within four at 21-17 with 5:08 remaining in the third quarter.

Nicholas Tyson extended the Lions' lead to 28-17 with a 14-yard TD catch less than two minutes into the fourth, and a 21-yard Daniel Dugan-to-Glenn Grainger pass play pushed it to 35-17 with 10:15 to play.

Gresik and Paye got the Pioneers to within striking distance with their 75-yard scoring play (35-24, 9:07), and after the WP defense forced a three-and-out, the Pioneers drove to inside the Lions' 35-yard line.  A third-and-12 pass play picked up just one yard, and on fourth down Gresik's attempt fell incomplete, essentially ending William Paterson's comeback hopes with 3:40 remaining.

Frazier averaged 45.9 yards on seven punts, and senior free safety Javon Hodges (Parlin, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) returned three punts for 57 yards, including a 48-yarder during the third quarter that led to the Pioneers' field goal.

Dugan was 30-for-45 for 298 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions, and Doniloski carried 28 times for 165 yards and a touchdown and also caught 11 passes for 76 yards.  Greg Burns led the TCNJ defense with nine tackles, and Michael Lambert had eight (seven solo, 3.0 TFL).

William Paterson will host Cortland Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1:00 p.m.
