Field Hockey Wins Third Straight, 2-1

Pioneers Defeat Susquehanna for Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The William Paterson field hockey team (7-10) earned its third straight win and its fifth victory in its last six games, posting a 2-1 triumph at Susquehanna (5-11) Oct. 20.

Junior Jessica Nendze (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) wasted no time giving the Pioneers an advantage, rifling a shot off a Jamie Miller (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) pass 1:24 into the contest.

Junior Brianne Cox (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) made it a 2-0 margin in the 25th minute, collecting her fifth goal of the season when she dove to get her stick on the end of a long Jaclyn Bertos (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) cross.

Ally Bradley registered the Crusaders' lone goal, converting on a backhanded shot at the 51:40 mark.

Junior Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) made 10 saves for WP, and Margaret Ruth had five stops for Susquehanna.

William Paterson will celebrate Senior Night Tuesday, Oct. 23, against Western Connecticut at 7:00 p.m.
