WAYNE, N.J. – No. 22/22 William Paterson (17-2) turned in a dominating performance to earn an 87-62 women's basketball victory against visiting Drew (8-10) Jan. 24. The Pioneers, who scored the game's first 14 points, kept the Rangers off the scoreboard for the first five minutes of the contest.

William Paterson used a 24-6 run to end the half and take a 48-16 advantage into the break, holding Drew to 26.3 (5-19) percent shooting overall and a 0-for-6 effort from three-point range while forcing 22 Ranger turnovers. Freshman guard Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) matched her career highs with 14 points and six assists during the opening 20 minutes for WP, while junior forward April Smith (Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) had 13 points and junior guard BriAnna Lucas (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) collected five steals before halftime.

William Paterson extended its lead to 40 (74-34, 10:16) halfway through the second stanza before the Pioneers' bench took over for the remainder of the contest. Borova finished with 17 points and 11 assists for her first career double-double. Smith posted 23 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore forward Tatiana Javis (Newark, N.J./ Bloomfield Tech) contributed nine tallies and freshman Jewell Palmer (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) posted eight.

Sophomore Jen Mateo had 14 points to lead the Rangers. Junior Britta Olsen and freshman Logan Cavanaugh each scored nine. Drew got 21 of its points at the free-throw line (21-25, .840) and turned it over a total of 34 times against the Pioneer defense.

William Paterson will return to action Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Ramapo at 5:30 p.m.
