Ahead by just one, 22-21, after shooting 28.1 (9-32) percent during the first half, the Pioneers got back on track to make 20 of 37 (.541) attempts during the second stanza. Leading by a 26-25 score with 16:27 remaining, William Paterson surged ahead for a 55-28 advantage during the next eight minutes. The Gothic Knights, who converted on eight of 32 (.250) field goals during the second half, also saw their 13 turnovers turned into 24 points by the Pioneers during the game's final 20 minutes.
Carolina Garcia led NJCU with 15 points, while Gabrielle Rivera contributed 11.
