Box Score

MAHWAH, N.J. – William Paterson (5-1-3, 0-0-2 NJAC) recorded its second straight double-overtime draw in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play, this one a 2-2 final at Ramapo (2-0-2, 1-0-1 NJAC) Sept. 23.

The Pioneers got on the scoreboard in the 29th minute when Dan Fulmer (Andover, N.J./Newton) slid a pass to sophomore Anthony Ferrer (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) in front of the net, and Ferrer knocked it past Ramapo goalkeeper Ian Tighe. That score was the margin at halftime, as the Pioneers out-shot the Roadrunners, 12-4, during the opening period.

Freshman Rob Santaniello tied the match in the 74th minute, with assists credited to Justin Stone and Brett Tracey. William Paterson regained the lead less than 10 minutes later, thanks to an unassisted strike by junior Julian Valerio (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan).

However, that one-goal advantage was short-lived, as Santaniello struck eight seconds later for his second goal of the night to make it a 2-2 game. The Pioneers out-shot the hosts by a 12-6 count during the second half.

During the overtime periods, William Paterson saw just one game-finishing opportunity that was denied by Tighe. Ramapo's Matt Fleissner almost finished the contest for the Roadrunners with less than four minutes to play, but senior Dan Peragallo (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) made a huge save for the Pioneers.

Tighe finished the day with 14 saves and Peragallo recorded three of his own. William Paterson out-shot the Roadrunners, 25-12, overall.

William Paterson will next play Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Rutgers-Newark at 7:00 p.m.
