WAYNE, N.J. – Freshman Allison Bradley's first career goal just 1:07 into the extra period handed the 20th-ranked William Paterson field hockey team (3-1) its first loss of the season, as visiting Susquehanna (2-3) earned a 2-1 overtime victory in a steady rain at Wightman Stadium Sept. 12.

Susquehanna broke the ice less than 10 minutes into the contest when freshman Allison Abey re-directed a long drive by sophomore Laurel Monaghan past WP goalie Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) and into the cage, handing the Crusaders a 1-0 lead on what would be their only quality opportunity of the opening period.

William Paterson cashed in 20 minutes later, as senior Lauren Frazier (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) played a ball into space on the left flank and classmate Christina Ayusa (Runnemede, N.J./Triton) ran on to it and dribbled into the circle, sweeping a back-handed shot for her third goal of the season.

Each team had an excellent scoring chance 20 minutes into the second half, but Auger managed to stave off a flurry of shots inside her own circle, and senior Jodi Feriod's (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) long hit that was re-directed by junior Amanda Sheehan (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) ricocheted off the left post.

Bradley scored the game winner when her chip from a tough angle on the left side of the circle was high into the opposite corner of the cage.

Auger made three saves for William Paterson, while sophomore Erin Ferguson had two stops for the Crusaders.

William Paterson, ranked 20th in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Preseason Poll, will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 15, at FDU-Florham at 7:00 p.m.
