Box Score

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Junior Christina Ayusa (Runnemede, N.J./Triton) finished a Jennie Hara (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) pass on a 2-on-1 break, giving the William Paterson field hockey team (4-1) a 2-1 overtime victory at Susquehanna (1-4) Sept. 12.

Ayusa's goal, coming with 5:02 remaining during the overtime period, was her third score of the season. For Hara, the assist marked her first career point.

Senior Meghan Hall (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp.) gave the Pioneers an early 1-0 edge, deflecting a shot off a defender and into the back of the cage in the 29th minute.  At the break, WP owned a 6-0 advantage in both shots and corners.

Junior Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) came up big for the Pioneers in the 58th minute, diving to her right to make a spectacular save of a penalty stroke and keep it a 1-0 game.  That play would loom even larger two minutes later, when the Crusaders' Laurel Monaghan converted a penalty corner to tie the contest at 1-1.

Auger had three saves for William Paterson, and Erin Ferguson had six stops for Susquehanna. WP owned a 15-6 edge in shots, and a 14-4 advantage in penalty corners.

William Paterson will return to Wightman Stadium Tuesday, Sept. 16, taking on FDU-Florham at 7:00 p.m.
