Baseball Rolls Past Stevens Tech, 11-0

Pioneers Earn Sixth Straight Victory

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The William Paterson baseball team (21-9) extended its win streak to six games, rolling past Stevens Tech (6-19), 11-0, April 16 in Hoboken.

The Pioneers scored early and often, crossing the plate five times during the third inning and twice during the fourth. An error and six singles allowed WP to bat around in the third, and junior Will Courter (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) drove in both scores with his first home run, a shot over the fence in right-center during the fourth.

William Paterson again batted around in the sixth, pushing across four runs. Sophomore Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) blasted his seventh round-tripper of the year, sophomore Andrue Laguerre (Jersey City, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) had a RBI-single, and freshman Frank Franco (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) drove in the final score after a fielder's choice, giving the Pioneers their final 11-0 advantage.

Freshman Kyle Schlemm (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) threw the complete-game six-hitter to improve to 2-0. He struck out six Ducks while walking one.

Senior Vince Joyce (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored. Courter and Guadango were each 2-for-5 with a home run, senior Anthony Perrone (Midland Park, N.J./Bergen Catholic) was 2-for-3 with two RBI, and classmate Dan Limone (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two runs scored.

William Paterson will return to NJAC action Thursday, April 17, playing at Rutgers-Newark at 3:30 p.m.
