Three-Run Ninth Gives WPU 4-2 Win at Rowan

Dan Limone's two-run single in the ninth helped give WP a 4-2 victory.

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Three runs in the top of the ninth lifted the William Paterson baseball team (11-6-2, 2-2-1 NJAC) to a 4-2 victory at Rowan (10-9, 2-2 NJAC) April 5.

With the bases loaded and one out, junior Don Hays' (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) sacrifice bunt scored freshman Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) to force a 2-2 tie, and junior Dan Limone (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) plated two more runs with a single to right field to give the Pioneers the lead.

The Profs scored single runs in the first and third innings to take an early 2-0 lead. Senior Ted King's (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor South) RBI single in the top of the fourth cut that advantage in half.

Senior Mike Irwin (North Haledon, N.J./Manchester Regional) started on the mound for the Pioneers, allowing six hits, two runs (one earned) and three walks while striking out seven in 5.2 innings. Senior Christian Miranda (Bogota, N.J./Bergen Catholic) picked up the victory with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief (2-1).

William Paterson will host John Jay Friday, April 6, at 1:00 p.m.
