Rick Pignatello (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) was 3-for-6 with four RBI, four runs scored and two stolen bases, while freshman
Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) was 3-for-4 with two runs, a RBI and a stolen base. Junior
Vince Joyce (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) batted 3-for-4 with a pair of runs-batted-in as well as a run scored, and junior
Dan Limone (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) had a 3-for-5 day at the plate, scoring three runs and driving one in while also stealing a base. Senior
Jon Marzella (Cedar Knolls, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) blasted a three-run homer in the top of the first inning. In all, the Pioneers had 23 hits, including three doubles, and drew 10 walks.
Freshman
Greg Stokes Franklin Lakes, N.J./Indian Hills) improved to 2-0 on the mound, striking out five while allowing six hits and three earned runs in 5.0 innings. Sophomore
Dan VandeVrede (Lincoln Park, N.J./Pequannock) allowed one run in 1.0 inning of work, while seniors
Tim Cowan (Elizabeth, N.J./Roselle Catholic) and
Christian Miranda (Bogota, N.J./Bergen Catholic) held CSI scoreless over the final three innings.
