Box Score

WAYNE , N.J. – Rowan (17-14, 7-7 NJAC) built a 10-0 lead in the sixth inning and cruised to a 14-2 baseball victory at William Paterson (15-14-2, 3-10-1 NJAC) April 23 .

A single run in the second, followed by four scores in the third, gave the Profs control of the contest. Robert Fox's RBI single, Paul Urbanovic's three-run homer, and Tom Ready's run-scoring single gave Rowan the early advantage, and the Profs added to it with a run in the fifth and four more in the sixth. The Profs finished their offensive effort with two runs each in the top of the eighth and ninth innings. Roger Turley's two-run single in the sixth, a two-RBI double by Shawn Counard in the eighth and a pinch-hit run-scoring single by David Zavistoski in the ninth keyed Rowan's late-game scoring efforts.

William Paterson scored both of its runs in the home half of the eighth. Chris Arecchi (Hazlet, N.J./St. John Vianney) started the inning with a pinch-hit single down the right-field line. Three straight walks issued to Don Hays (Paramus, N.J./Paramus), Dan Limone (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) and James Gregory (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) forced home Arecchi, and a groundout off the bat of Wayne Poppe (Sloatsburg, N.J./Suffern) plated Hays.
