Balanced Attack Gives Pioneers 70-41 Win against Arcadia

Johnson Named to All-Tournament Team

Asia Johnson was named to the Red Hawk/Pioneer Classic All-Tournament Team (11.0 ppg, 13.0 rpg).

MONTCLAIR, N.J. -- Junior guard Lauren Miller (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) scored 11 points off the bench as William Paterson (2-2) got scoring contributions from 13 different players in a 70-41 victory against Arcadia (0-4) in the Red Hawk/Pioneer Classic second round at Montclair State's Panzer Gymnasium Nov. 25.

Elisa Brown (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) had nine points and four rebounds as William Paterson used a 20-8 run in the first half to pull away from the Knights. Junior forward Asia Johnson (Wildwood, N.J./Wildwood) added eight points and 12 rebounds to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Senior Caitlin Sparks recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds for Arcadia, and senior guard Stephanie Bates was named to the Classic's All-Tournament Team.

The Pioneers trailed 2-1 in the early moments before Johnson scored on a three-point play to give William Paterson the lead for good. Julie Haledjian (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) added a jumper and Lori Custis' (Roselle, N.J./Abraham Clark) jumper in the paint made it 8-2 before Miller capped the 9-0 run with a basket. A jumper by Bates cut the lead back to six, but Johnson put in two points inside the paint, and Brown capped off the run with a layup, giving William Paterson a 21-10 advantage. From there the Pioneers would lead by double-digits the remainder of the way.

Sophomore Erin Cook (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) had six points and 11 rebounds, Stephanie Summers (Atlantic City, N.J./Atlantic City) contributed five points, seven rebounds and four steals, and Jonelle Rodriguez (Elizabeth, N.J./Carteret) and Haledjian each had seven points as the Pioneers outrebounded the Knights, 55-44, including 26 on the offensive glass.

Rachael Dauscher and Bates each finished with six points for Arcadia, which shot just 11-of-51 (.216) from the field and committed 31 turnovers in the game. Rebecca Knight grabbed seven rebounds for the Knights.

William Paterson is back in action on Thursday, Nov. 29, as the Pioneers travel to Mount St. Mary for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
