CAMDEN, N.J. (DECEMBER 9, 2006) - The William Paterson women's basketball team (7-2, 3-0 NJAC) remained perfect in NJAC play, earning a 72-48 victory at Rutgers-Camden (3-5, 0-3 NJAC).
The Pioneers wasted little time putting the Scarlet Raptors away, building a 39-16 lead by halftime. Defense was again a key for William Paterson, as forty of the Pioneers' 72 points were courtesy of 33 Rutgers-Camden turnovers.
William Paterson also benefited from a balanced scoring attack, as seven Pioneers scored seven or more points. Senior
Luci Custis (Roselle, N.J./Abraham Clark), the winner of the last two NJAC Player of the Week awards, led the Pioneers with 11 tallies. Freshman
Julie Haledjian (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) added 10 points. Senior
Meghan Ludgate (Palermo, N.J./Ocean City) and sophomore
Asia Johnson (Wildwood, N.J./Wildwood) each collected seven rebounds to lead William Paterson.
The Pioneers will return to action Monday, Dec. 11, at FDU-Florham at 6:00 p.m.
