WAYNE, N.J. – Men’s swimming sophomore Vojtech Karas (Brno, Czech Republic/Ludvika Danka) was named William Paterson’s Pioneer of the Week for Feb. 25.

Karas finished the 2007-08 season with several outstanding performances at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 22-24. He advanced to three individual A Finals, finishing second in the 50 free (21.28), fourth in the 100 free (46.85), and seventh in the 200 free (1:44.09). Karas, who was .11 of a second off a NCAA Division III Championships B qualifying standard in the 50 free and .30 away from a B standard in the 100 free, also helped lead four Pioneer relays to top finishes, as WP was seventh in the 400 free A Final (3:15.91), won the B Finals of the 200 free (1:29.37) and 400 medley (3:44.00), and was second in the 200 medley (1:452.34) relays.
