Jill Bachonski’s work with the Pioneers on the court, her in-game suggestions and her successes on the recruiting trail have helped William Paterson re-emerge as one of the top programs in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).

Bachonski, now in her 17th season on the Pioneer sideline in 2018-19, has spent the past three years working with the forwards after previously assisting with the guards for five seasons. She had a hand in recruiting several players on this season’s roster and has helped them improve their games. A fixture at summer camps throughout the country, Bachonski served as the boys’ and girls’ varsity head basketball coach at New Milford High School, in addition to a stint as an assistant women’s coach at Hudson County Community College (1994-95). She began her coaching career as a WP undergraduate assistant for head coach Erin Monahan in 1993-94.

Bachonski played for the Pioneers from 1989-93 and was one of the top players in William Paterson history, as her 1,279 points still rank 13th all time. She was a part of the 1992-93 NJAC championship team and is a member of the William Paterson University Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame. A 1995 graduate of William Paterson with a B.S. in exercise and movement science, she is currently an elementary school physical education teacher and middle school track coach in Perth Amboy.
