An integral part of the program since arriving in 2009, Dan Halewicz is in his 16th season as a William Paterson men’s basketball assistant coach (2024-25). His work on the recruiting trail and his ability to break down an opponent has helped to contribute to the program's success during his tenure on staff.
With his help, the Pioneers have recorded four 20-win seasons in the past 12 years, making three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances (2010, 2012, 2015) and winning two New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championships (2010, 2012).
Halewicz brought a varied resume of basketball coaching experience to WP, most recently serving as the head coach of the Bulls Basketball Club 17U boys team in 2022. Prior to that, he served as the head coach of the Riverside Hawks AAU Basketball 17U boys team. From 2001 to 2017, he was the founder, director and head coach of the Wayne PAL/NJ Wolfpack AAU program, as well as the basketball tournament director for the Wayne PAL. He also worked with the freshman (2007-08), JV (2008-09) and varsity (2008-09) teams as an assistant coach at DePaul Catholic High School, and was the head coach of the Wayne Police Athletic League (PAL) traveling basketball (2000-08) teams. Halewicz has also served as an instructor and coach at the NJ Adidas Junior Phenom basketball camp, various Hoop Group Metro Top 100 and Academic Elite camps and clinics, as well as at the Hoop Mountain All-Academic Camp.
Currently, Halewicz serves as the Chief Finance and Administration Officer for New Heights Youth, Inc., a non-profit sports-based youth development and organization based in Brooklyn, N.Y. He additionally serves as an adjunct professor for the WP Department of Kinesiology.
