One of the greatest defensive players in Pioneer history, Steve Brown rejoined the William Paterson football staff in 2015 as a volunteer assistant coach.
Previously an assistant coach for the 1988-2004, 2006 and 2015-18 teams, Brown recorded 57 career sacks (1972-73) at WP, including 30 during the 1972 season, to establish school records that still stand to this day.
Following his playing days at William Paterson, Brown competed for the New York franchise of the World Football League (1974-77), as well as the NFL’s New York Giants (1977-79). For his accomplishments, he was inducted into the William Paterson University Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame.
Brown, who completed a bachelor’s degree at William Paterson, has served as a social studies teacher at Paterson Eastside High School since 1974.
