Now in his third season at his alma mater (2015), assistant football coach Joe Berlingo works with William Paterson’s running backs and oversees recruiting in Bergen County.
Berlingo, who worked with the inside linebackers during his first two seasons in Wayne, owns 23 years of high school coaching experience in New Jersey. Most recently, he served as the defensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Northern Highlands High School for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. From 2001-06, Berlingo was the head coach at Wood-Ridge High School, leading the team to its first playoffs appearance in 27 years during the 2006 campaign.
Berlingo earned a bachelor’s in history (secondary education) at WP in 1996, and is a social studies teacher at Fort Lee’s Lewis F. Cole Middle School.
