Erik Scott

Now in his fifth season as a member of the William Paterson coaching staff, Erik Scott will again serve as the Pioneers’ wide receivers coach during the 2011 campaign. He also assists with the program’s recruiting efforts in Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties, and a portion of Essex County.

A volunteer assistant during the fall of 2007, Scott was tabbed as the wide receivers coach in 2008 when former position coach Jerry Flora was named the program’s head coach. During his first season working with the receivers, he mentored a group that helped William Paterson accumulate 2,189 yards through the air, including a record-breaking 965 yards by first-team all-conference and second-team all-region selection Joel Rivera. In 2009, Scott’s mentorship helped Rivera become the program’s career receptions (159), yardage (2,209) and touchdowns (23) leader, earning him an invitation to the New York Jets’ rookie mini-camp. A year ago, sophomore Chris Manfredo and junior Joe Muraglia, Jr. were both honorable-mention all-NJAC honorees.

An instructor at the 2007-08 Sports International Football Camps, he also worked as a baseball instructor in 2008 at the Frozen Ropes Training Facility, and was the manager/camp director at Batter Up Sports (2003-06).

Scott was an all-region baseball selection at Westchester Community College in 1992, and completed an associate’s degree in media arts at the school the same year. He earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and movement science at William Paterson in 2009, and he currently serves as an adjunct professor in the WP Kinesiology Department. Scott resides in Clifton with his wife, Amie.
