Former Pioneer Chris Thomas joins the William Paterson football staff as an undergraduate assistant coach for the 2011 season.

Thomas was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for WP at cornerback and bandit, making 103 tackles (58 solo, 4.5 TFL) while collecting a fumble forced, three fumble recoveries and four interceptions in 38 games (30 starts). As a senior in 2010, he tied for fifth on the team with 44 stops (23 solo, 2.5 TFL), adding a blocked kick, a fumble recovery and a team-best seven pass breakups while ranking third in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in kickoff return average (23.2 yards/game).

A native of West Milford, N.J., Thomas is completing a bachelor’s degree in sociology at WP.
