William Paterson University Athletics

Charles Trentacosti joined the William Paterson football staff as an assistant coach for the 2011 season and works with the Pioneers’ defensive line.

During his first season in Wayne, WP was sixth in Division III in pass defense (129.70 yards/game), and Trentacosti’s tutelage helped senior bandit Doug Dudek garner a spot on the All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Second Team.

Trentacosti brought a wealth of high school coaching experience to the WP staff, most recently serving as the head coach, offensive and defensive coordinator at Ridgefield Memorial (2006-10).  He was the defensive coordinator and line coach at Ridgefield High School from 2001-05, and was the running backs and linebackers coach at North Bergen High School from 1985-87.

The director of the Ridgefield Summer 7v7 High School Football League and the Ridgefield Youth Camps and Clinics, he served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Bergen County Coaches Association North-South All-Star Game (2006-08).  Trentacosti worked as Ridgefield Memorial’s strength and conditioning coach (2000-05), and was a volunteer/head coach with the Ridgefield Park Junior Football Association (1995-2000).

Currently a physical education and health teacher at Ridgefield Memorial, Trentacosti earned a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College.
