Women’s Soccer Falls at Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (1-1) dropped a 5-1 decision at Wilkes (2-0) Sept. 4.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After the Colonels seized a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute, the Pioneers scored the equalizer five minutes later when junior forward/midfielder Janie Henderson (Stanhope, N.J./Hopatcong) converted a penalty kick.
  • Wilkes found the back of the net at the 26:05 mark to build a 2-1 advantage, then added second-half strikes in the 57th, 59th and 69th minutes.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sophomore Alessandra Socio (North Brunswick, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) posted six stops in goal for the Pioneers.
 
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson will play its home opener Tuesday, Sept. 8, against St. Joseph's-Long Island at 6:00 p.m.
