HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Three Pioneers found the back of the net in the second half to lift the William Paterson women's soccer team (1-0) to a 3-0 season-opening victory at Centenary (0-1) Sept. 2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The two sides were scoreless in the second half until sophomore Ella Aranda (Wanaque, N.J./Passaic County Technical) found the back of the net in the 57th minute to put the Pioneers ahead, 1-0.
• In the 70th minute, sophomore Jules Schmidt (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) extended the WP advantage to two (2-0) with a goal.
• With less than a minute left to play, sophomore Samantha Donovan (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) delivered the Pioneers' third score of the contest.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Schmidt recorded her first career goal.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Alessandra Socio (North Brunswick, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) made her WP debut, logging a clean sheet.
• The Pioneers won their season opener for the third consecutive season.
• WP outshot Centenary, 26-2.
