HOBOKEN, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (4-5) was bested 3-1 on the road by Stevens (8-1) Sept. 18. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• A 9-2 run late in the first set put the Pioneers in front, 19-18, but the Ducks countered with a 7-2 run to earn the 25-21 win.
• Junior Makayda Aldrich (Robbinsdale, Minn./Brooklyn Center) pulled the Pioneers within a point (18-17) in the second set, sparking a 9-4 run that earned WP the 25-21 victory.
• Three straight points by the Pioneers in the third set trimmed the deficit to three (18-15), but a 7-2 run by Stevens gave the Ducks the 25-17 win.
• Stevens used a 9-4 run to close out the fourth set and claim the 25-19 victory. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Senior Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) had 16 assists and 12 digs en route to breaking the program's all-time assist record with 3,036. 
• Sophomore Riley Elliott (El Dorado Hills, Calif./Oak Ridge) logged a double-double after compiling 15 kills and 11 digs.
• Sophomore Emeli Giesler (Milton, Ga./Milton) tallied 12 kills.
• Freshman Sara Rogers (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek) posted 16 assists and six digs.
• Junior Bella Demers (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) had 20 digs and a season-best eight assists.

UP NEXT:

• William Paterson will remain in Hoboken, N.J., for a 11:00 a.m. game versus Oneonta and a 4:00 p.m. matchup against Springfield Saturday, Sept. 19.
