Baseball Bested at No. RV Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J. – The William Paterson baseball team (12-18, 5-7 NJAC) was defeated, 6-1, by No. RV Ramapo (23-8, 9-3 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road game April 17.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Roadrunners plated a run in each of the first two innings to take an early 2-0 lead.
  • Ramapo scored four runs on five hits in the fourth inning to extend the advantage to six (6-0).
  • Freshman Matt Caruso (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Technical) and junior Ty Kobylakiewicz (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) opened the sixth frame with back-to-back singles for the Pioneers. Caruso advanced to third on a flyout to right by junior Stephen Kubis (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) before scoring on a wild pitch to trim the deficit to five (6-1).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Caruso went 3-for-5 at the plate with a run scored.
  • Senior Julian Salinas (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) pitched 8.0 innings while striking out four batters and surrendering two earned runs.
