WAYNE, N.J. - The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (8-4) was bested by Ramapo (4-3), 181-80, at home on Jan. 27.

TOP PERFORMERS:

• Junior Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) was victorious in the 500 free (5:16.55) and 1000 free (10:58.68).
• Junior Zak Li (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) placed first in the 200 breast (2:25.11).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• WP finished second in the 200 medley relay, with efforts from senior Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison), junior Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.), Li, and freshman Horain Reid (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central), finishing with a time of 1:49.66.
• The Pioneers secured second-place in the 200 free relay, with efforts from Li, Melli, junior Owen Kane (West Milford, N.J./West Milford), and sophomore Christian Scerbo (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park), finishing with a time of 1:40.55.
