Men's Swimming and Diving Clinches 107-58 Home Win over Bard

WAYNE, N.J. - The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (8-3) earned its third consecutive victory with a 107-58 win against Bard (1-3) on Jan. 24 at Wightman Pool.
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Senior Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison) earned first-place in the 100 back (1:00.78).
  • Junior Owen Kane (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) was victorious in the 100 breast (1:11.23).
  • Junior Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) finished first in the 500 free (5:11.37).
  • Freshman Horain Reid (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) touched the wall first in the 100 free (56.12).
  • Junior Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) triumphed in the 50 free (25.44).
  • WP won the 400 medley relay, with efforts from Byrd, Junior Zak Li (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley), Melli, and Reid, finishing with a time of 4:03.78.
  • The Pioneers placed first in the 200 free relay, with efforts by Byrd, Russell, Li, and Melli, finishing with a time of 1:38.11.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sophomore Christian Scerbo (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park) posted a new personal record in the 1000 free (13:03.67).
  • Freshman Andre Miguel Ovejas (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) shredded time off his 100 IM best (1:09.00).
