No. RV/20 Women's Basketball Secures 61-47 Home Win Over TCNJ

WAYNE, N.J. – The No. RV/20 William Paterson women's basketball team (16-1, 10-0 NJAC) improved to 10-0 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action after earning a 61-47 victory against The College of New Jersey (8-9, 7-3 NJAC) Jan. 21 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Despite a low-scoring first half from both sides, the Pioneers carried a four-point advantage (24-20) into the third quarter.
  • The Lions buried a three to open the new frame, trimming the deficit to one (24-23), but WP used a 14-0 run to take a 15-point lead (38-23) with 3:40 on the clock.
  • The Pioneers maintained their double-digit advantage the rest of the way en route to securing the 61-47 home win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior Renee Wells (Leonardo, N.J./Middletown South) scored a game-high 22 points, adding seven boards, two assists, two steals and a block.
  • Senior Patty Walsh (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) recorded 14 points, four boards, two assists, a pair of blocks and a steal.
  • Junior Mattison Chiera (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) reeled in a career-high 12 boards to pair with seven points.
  • Sophomore Leilani Pinder (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick) had seven points and four rebounds.
  • Junior Jada Jacobs (Mount Laurel, N.J./Medford Tech) had eight rebounds, five points and four steals.
  • William Paterson is ranked 20th in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Poll and received votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll.
