WAYNE, N.J. - The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (7-3) earned a convincing 143-18 victory over Lehman College (8-2) at home on Jan. 20.
TOP PERFORMERS:

• Senior Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison) was victorious in the 50 free (25.33) and 100 back (1:01.89).
• Freshman Andre Miguel Ovejas (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) touched the wall first in the 1000 free (12:50.36).
• Junior Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) triumphed in the 200 free (1:55.63) and 500 free (5:23.51).
• Junior Zak Li (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) posted first-place finishes in the 100 free (51.90) and 100 breast (1:06.51).
• Freshman Horain Reid (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) won the 200 IM (2:25.07).
• Junior Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) placed first in the 100 fly (1:00.40).
• WP was victorious in the 200 medley relay, with efforts from Byrd, Li, Russell, and Reid, finishing with a time of 1:50.86.
• The Pioneers finished first in the 200 free relay, with efforts from Reid, junior Garrett D'Elia (Maywood, N.J./Hackensack), Ovejas, and sophomore Christian Scerbo (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park), finishing with a time of 1:46.18.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Andre Miguel Ovejas (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) posted a new personal best in the 1000 free (12:50.36).
• Scerbo shredded time off his previous 1000 free best (13:20.46).
