Early Goals Power Men's Soccer Past Brooklyn, 3-0

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (3-3-1) used three early first-half goals to power past Brooklyn (3-4), 3-0, Sept. 19 at Pioneer Soccer Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers jumped out to a 1-0 advantage after senior Delvin Nketia (New Brunswick, N.J./Montclair) found the back of the net off the feed from junior Thomas Rogan (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) in the fourth minute.
  • WP added another score in the ninth minute once senior Matty Escobar (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) scored after receiving the ball from freshman Niko Pierce (Westfield, N.J./Westfield).
  • In the 16th minute, freshman Adrian Qira (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) fired a shot that was saved by the Brooklyn goalkeeper before sophomore Davide Zamuner (Piverone, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Statale A. Gramsci) cleaned up the loose ball with his first goal of the season to extend the lead to three (3-0).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Nketia notched his third goal of the season.
  • Escobar recorded his fourth goal this year.
  • Pierce and Qira each logged their second career assists.
  • Freshman Riccardo Prati (Milan, Italy/Alexis Carrel) posted his second career clean sheet.
