Field Hockey Bested by Drew

MADISON, N.J.  – The William Paterson field hockey team (0-3) fell 8-2 in non-conference action at Drew (3-0) Sept. 10.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Drew opened the scoring in the third minute to gain a 1-0 advantage.  
  • WP responded in the sixth minute when sophomore Ali Stoner (Branchville, N.J./High Point) netted her first goal of the season to even the score at 1-1.
  • The Rangers added two more goals before the end of the first quarter to move ahead 3-1.
  • Stoner struck again in the 21st minute, finishing a feed from sophomore Julia Dennehy (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) to cut the deficit to 3-2.
  • Drew countered less than two minutes later (4-2) before pulling away in the second half with four more goals to make it a six-goal game, 8-2.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Dennehy recorded her first assist of the year.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Jenkins (Bloomsbury, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) posted a career-high 18 saves.
