Men’s Soccer Rolls to 6-0 Season-Opening Victory at Penn State Brandywine

MEDIA, Pa. – Seven different Pioneers contributed at least one point as the William Paterson men's soccer team (1-0) rolled to a 6-0 season-opening victory at Penn State Brandywine (0-1) Aug. 30.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior mdifielder Matty Escobar (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) started the scoring, finishing an assist from senior midfielder Jonathan Antonio (Edison, N.J./Edison) 2:38 into the contest.
  • Antonio netted a goal of his own 16 minutes later off an assist from sophomore forward Vincent Richard (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington).
  • Senior back Delvin Nketia (New Brunswick, N.J./Montclair) made it a 3-0 score in the 25th minute, using an assist from sophomore midfielder Davide Zamuner (Piverone, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Statale A. Gramsci).
  • Escobar added an unassisted strike at the 33:55 mark for a 4-0 halftime advantage.
  • Richard finished a ball from Antonio in the 63rd minute.
  • Sophomore forward Alessandro Peroglio (Rome, Italy/Istituto Asisium) netted the final goal with 10:07 remaining, with the assist contributed by sophomore midfielder Patrick Kudron (Chester, N.J./Mendham).
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior Luca Misko (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater Raritan) made two stops for his third career shutout.
  • Peroglio and Kudron logged their first points as Pioneers.
