HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers seized a 3-0 advantage during the top of the first inning with a double down the left-field line by sophomore second baseman Devin Daproza (Englewood, N.J./Leonia), an RBI-single to left by senior center fielder Braden Ramirez (Middlesex, N.J./Union Catholic), a base hit by junior third baseman Dylan Santos (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) and a two-run double into right-center field by sophomore designated hitter Stephen Kubis (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills).
  • WP added one more in the second thanks to a two-out single from junior shortstop Angel Colon (Hawthorne, N.J./St. Joseph's Regional), a Daproza walk, a Ramirez hit by pitch and a bases-loaded wild pitch.

  • The Pioneers took control of the game with a four-run sixth. Kobylakiewicz drew a one-out walk, Santos singled and Kubis earned a free pass, loading the bags for junior right fielder Thomas Jova (Gillette, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional)¸whose base hit plated one run. • A walk, single and error helped the Vikings plate one run in the sixth, 11-6.
  • WP strung together a Santos base hit, passed ball, Jova RBI-single, Brown hit and Germanson run-scoring single for a 13-6 edge during the top half of the seventh inning.
