Women’s Swimming and Diving Earns Commanding Win over St. Joseph’s (L.I.)

WAYNE, N.J. - The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (3-2) claimed a commanding 156-83 victory over St. Joseph's University (L.I.) (2-2) at Wightman Pool on November 4.

TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Sophomore Sarah Churchill (Washington Twp., N.J./Westwood) was victorious in the 1000 free.
  • Sophomore Frances Gomes (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) finished first in the 200 free.
  • Sophomore Skylar Coleman (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) touched the wall first in the 100 back.
  • Senior Sarah Gomez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) posted first-place finishes in the 100 fly and 200 fly.
  • Freshman Adaya Bourne (Saunders, Sint Maarten/Milton Peters College) triumphed in the 50 free.
  • Sophomore Dalisha Romero (Perth Amboy, N.J./Perth Amboy) secured victory in the 100 free.
  • Sophomore Katelyn Antonoff (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) placed first in the 200 back and 500 free.
  • WP won the 200 medley relay, with efforts by Romero, Bourne, Coleman and Gomes, finishing with a time of 2:09.64.
  • WP was victorious in the 200 free relay (1:53.92), with efforts from sophomore Olivia Morrison (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown), sophomore Savannah Morante (Scranton, Pa./Scranton H.S.), Gomes, and sophomore Cassandra Ashworth (Totowa, N.J./Homeschool).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Ashworth shredded time off her 200 fly best (3:42.43).
  • Churchill posted a personal record in the 500 free (6:27.67).
  • Coleman set new personal bests in the 100 back (1:09.82) and 200 IM (2:42.41).
  • Gomes lowered her 100 fly best (1:06.59).
  • Morante posted personal bests in the 200 free (2:50.6), 50 free (33.71), and 100 free (1:13.36).
  • Morrison registered a personal best in the 100 breast (1:27.11).
