NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (3-1) secured a road victory over Mount Saint Mary College (0-2), 139-48, on Saturday, Nov. 1.

TOP PERFORMERS:

• Sophomore Mario Pontidis (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) earned first-place finishes in the 100 back (59.90) and 100 breast (1:09.72).
• Junior Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) secured victory in the 1000 free (10:58.01).
• Freshman Horain Reid (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) finished first in the 200 free (2:08.24).
• Junior Zak Li (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) posted first-place finishes in the 50 free (23.51) and 100 fly (1:00.96)
• Senior Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison) touched the wall first in the 200 IM (2:15.69).
• Sophomore Ismael Lamar (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) clinched victory in the 100 free (56.16).
• WP finished first in the 200 medley relay (1:53.91) with efforts from sophomore Derek Gutowski (Succasunna, N.J./Roxburry), Pontidis, junior Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.), and Reid.
• The Pioneers claimed victory in the 400 free relay (3:46.36) with efforts from Li, Byrd, junior Owen Kane (West Milford, N.J./West Milford), and freshman Andre Miguel Ovejas (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Byrd shredded time off his 100 fly best (1:01.86).
• Kane set a new personal best in the 50 free (26.19).
• Scerbo recorded a personal record in the 1000 free (13.38.54).
