Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Falls Late to Western Connecticut State, 3-2

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team (2-11, 0-1 NJAC) fell 3-2 in a down-to-the-wire non-conference game against Western Connecticut State (6-7, 1-2 LEC) Oct. 18 at Wightman Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • William Paterson struck first when sophomore Ali Stoner (Branchville, N.J./High Point) dribbled past West Conn defenders and ripped a shot into the back of the cage from just inside the top of the circle in the 41st minute.
  • The Wolves evened the score at 1-1 in the 47th minute, before grabbing a 2-1 advantage with a goal in the 56th minute.
  • Just over a minute later, sophomore Kelly Cammarata (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) found Stoner on a through ball and the Branchville, N.J., native rifled a shot to the back right of the cage to knot the score at 2-2.
  • However, with 53 seconds left to play, the Wolves scored to take a 3-2 edge.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Stoner recorded her third multi-score game of the season and now has nine goals this year.
  • Sophomore goalie Grace Jenkins (Bloomsbury, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) made 10 stops.
  • Graduate student Kourtney Scipio (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) recorded a pair of defensive saves.
UP NEXT:
