Box Score WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's tennis team (1-2) secured a 4-1 home victory against John Jay (1-3) Oct. 1 at the Dr. Ginny Overdorf Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Junior Isabella Paladino (Leonardo, N.J./Middletown South) and sophomore Allison Stein (Hewitt, N.J./West Milford) won 6-2 in first doubles.
• Juniors Makayla Yancey (Phoenix, Ariz./Ridgeline Academy) and Joy Shand (Canton, Conn./Canton) claimed a 6-4 victory in third doubles.
• Shand captured a 7-6, 6-1 win in fourth singles.
• Yancey was victorious in fifth singles (6-1, 6-1).
• Freshman Haley Bernard (Galloway, N.J./Pinelands Regional) won 6-2, 6-3 in sixth singles.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Bernard won her first collegiate match.
