Men’s Soccer Runs Unbeaten Streak to 10, Defeats Host Stockton

Pioneers Open NJAC Play with 2-1 Victory

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (7-0-3, 1-0 NJAC) ran its unbeaten streak to 10 matches while starting New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play with a victory, posting a 2-1 win at Stockton (2-4-3, 0-1 NJAC) Sept. 28.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Junior Jimmy Bruno (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) got the Pioneers on the scoreboard in the 21st minute, heading in a pass from classmate Jakub Paszczyk (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex).
  • The Ospreys scored the equalizer seven minutes later.
  • WP retook the lead at the 33:48 mark as senior Gianfranco Banca's (Queens, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) header was finished by classmate Diego Navas (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) to the lower-left corner of the frame.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Luka Misko collected four saves.
  • Bruno scored his second goal of the season, and Navas posted his team-leading ninth.
  • The 10-match unbeaten streak is the longest for WP to start a season since 2008, when the Pioneers were 9-0-2.
