Men's Soccer Late Surge Falls Short in 4-3 Loss to Ramapo

WAYNE, N.J. – Despite a valiant effort, the William Paterson men's soccer team (7-0-3, 1-1 NJAC) fell to Ramapo (6-2-2, 1-1 NJAC), 4-3, in a close New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match Oct. 2 at Pioneer Soccer Park.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Ramapo scored the first three goals of the match at the 14th, 35th and 49th minutes to take a 3-0 lead.
  • Seven minutes into the second half, junior Dylan Nahas (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) found the back of the net, putting the Pioneers on the board.
  • Two minutes later, senior Diego Navas (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) scored on a cross from junior Filippo Dapelo (Genoa, Italy/Liceo Linguistico Internazionale Grazie Daledda), cutting the deficit to one (3-2).
  • In the 67th minute, the Roadrunners struck again, extending their lead to 4-2.
  • Senior defender Delvin Nketia (New Brunswick, N.J./Montclair) headed a goal in the 68th minute off a pass from classmate Matthew Escobar (Kearny, N.J./Kearny), making it 4-3.

  • Navas tallied his 10th goal of the year.
  • Nketia recorded his first goal of the season.
