Field Hockey Captures 3-1 Home Win Over Albertus Magnus

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's field hockey team (2-4, 0-0 NJAC) defeated Albertus Magnus (0-7, 0-3 GNAC), 3-1, Sept. 25 at Wightman Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Freshman Julia Dennehy (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) capitalized on a loose ball in front of the cage, swiftly netting the only goal of the first half.
  • At the start of the third quarter, freshman Alexandra Stoner (Branchville, N.J./High Point) rifled a shot past the Falcons' goalie, extending the Pioneers lead to two (2-0).
  • Albertus Magnus responded with a goal in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to one.  
  • With 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, freshman Julia Menn (Freiburg, Germany/Rotteck Gymnasium) found the back of the cage, securing a 3-1 victory for the Pioneers.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Dennehy and Menn each scored their first career goals.
  • Stoner notched her second goal of the season.
