Women's Soccer Falls to No. 18 NYU

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (2-3-1) fell 5-1 to No. 18 New York University (3-0-3) in a non-conference match at Pioneer Park Sept. 18.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Violets scored in the 25th, 28th and 30th minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime break.
  • Sophomore forward Christina Jimenez (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) put the Pioneers on the board with a goal in the 69th minute to trim the deficit to two (3-1).
  • The Violets struck again in the 78th and 83rd minutes, extending their lead to four (5-1) over the Pioneers.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Jimenez scored her third goal of the season.
  • Junior Sarah Mantilla (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) made a career-high 18 saves.
