VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

WAYNE, N.J. – Six Pioneers found the back of the net as the William Paterson men's soccer team (4-0-2) cruised to an 8-0 home victory against Brooklyn (1-4) Sept. 14 at Pioneer Soccer Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Less than a minute into action, sophomore Sergio Dal Ferro (Sauze d'Oulx, Italy/Instituto Sociale) played a ball to freshman Enzo Diaz (Harrison, N.J./Harrison) and he found senior Diego Navas (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) for the Pioneers' first goal of the game.
  • In the ninth minute, senior Gianfranco Banca (Queens, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) sent a ball to junior Jimmy Bruno (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) in the left corner and he delivered a cross into the box to Navas for his second goal of the night.
  • Navas completed the hat trick with his third score of the game in the 23rd minute after receiving a ball from Diaz.
  • William Paterson extended its lead to four (4-0) in the 45th minute. Junior Dylan Nahas (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) dished the ball to freshman Davide Zamuner (Piverone, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Statale A. Gramsci) and he found classmate Haratio Nelson (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) near the goal for the score.
  • In the 53rd minute, a shot by Bruno was saved and bounced back into play, allowing freshman Yago Zarco (Plaza Reyes Magos, Spain/Santa María Del Pilar) to score the Pioneers' fifth goal of the game.
  • Zamuner intercepted a pass as Brookyln was attempting to clear the ball in the 62nd minute and he buried it into the back of the net to make it a six-goal game (6-0).
  • In the 74th minute, senior James Alain (Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Technical Institute) curved the ball to the upper left corner of the net off a pass from junior Roberto Cacaci (Torino, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Galfer) for the seventh WP goal.
  • The Pioneers tacked on one final goal in the 83rd minute after Cacaci cut off a Brooklyn pass and dished the ball to junior Filippo Dapelo (Genoa, Italy/Liceo Linguistico Internazionale Grazie Daledda) for the score.
