Men’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten with 3-0 Triumph Against Keystone

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (5-0-2) remained unbeaten with a 3-0 home triumph against Keystone (1-6) Sept. 18.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers opened the scoring in the 16th minute when junior Matthew Escobar (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) played a long ball up the right side that senior Diego Navas (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) got onto and finished to the center of the frame.
  • WP made it 2-0 in the 27th minute thanks to an Enzo Diaz (Harrison, N.J./Harrison) corner that was headed in by junior Jakub Paszczyk (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) at the back post.
  • William Paterson pushed it to 3-0 in the 44th minute off another corner, this one by Escobar, that was headed by Paszczyk across the box and knocked home by junior Filippo Dapelo (Genoa, Italy/Liceo Linguistico Internazionale Grazie Daledda) on the goal line near the right post.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Luka Misko needed one save for his first shutout for WP.
  • Navas scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season, while Dapelo contributed his fifth strike.
  • Paszczyk had his first points as a Pioneer with the goal and assist.
  • Escobar's two helpers now give him a team-best five assists.
  • The seven-match unbeaten streak to start the season is the longest for WP since 2011, when the Pioneers were 7-0-1.
