Men's Soccer Captures 3-2 Comeback Win at Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (1-0-1) tallied three unanswered second-half goals to earn a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Gordon (0-2-0) Aug. 31.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Fighting Scots struck first in the 53rd minute before tacking on another goal in the 63rd minute to extend the lead to two (2-0).
  • William Paterson trimmed the deficit to one (2-1) after junior Dylan Nahas (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) recorded his first collegiate goal in the 65th minute.
  • The Pioneers evened the score at 2-2 in the 78th minute once junior Filippo Dapelo (Genoa, Italy/Liceo Linguistico Internazionale Grazie Daledda) found the back of the net off the feed from classmate Matthew Escobar (Kearny, N.J./Kearny).
  • Dapelo delivered the game-winning score in the 85th minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Dapelo posted his first multi-goal outing.
  • Dapelo, Escobar and Nahas each recorded their first career points for WP.
  • The three goals were the most in a game for the Pioneers since Sept. 11, 2023, when WP logged a 3-0 home win over Delaware Valley.
  • William Paterson outshot Gordon, 21-9.

  • The Pioneers will play host to Saint Elizabeth Wednesday, Sept. 4, for a 7:00 p.m. match at Pioneer Soccer Park.
