Men's Basketball Drops Conference Road Tilt to Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (6-17, 1-15 NJAC) fell 75-63 to Rutgers-Camden (13-11, 8-9 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road game Feb. 10.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Rutgers-Camden shot 57 percent (16-of-28) from the floor as a team in the first half and carried a 14-point lead (37-23) into the break.
  • The Scarlet Raptors' advantage continued to grow in the second half and a 12-4 run that began at the 18:08 mark extended the lead to 22 (54-32).
  • With 9:49 remaining in the game, the Pioneers went on a 17-3 run that spanned 6:50 on game action to pull within 10 (65-55). However, the Scarlet Raptors were able to maintain their double-digit lead the rest of the way and secure the home conference win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior Shawn Summers Jr. (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) finished with a game-high 18 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
  • Graduate student MJ Moncrieffe (Maplewood, N.J./Marist) had 15 points, nine rebounds and two steals.
  • Junior Andre Wells (Matawan, N.J./Matawan) recorded an eight-point outing with three rebounds and two assists.
  • Junior Neftali Valentin (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) tallied eight points and six boards with an assist and a steal.

  • William Paterson returns to the Sports and Recreation Center Wednesday, Feb. 14, for a NJAC game against Ramapo.
